The IWW has been conducting interdisciplinary research in water for close on 30 years. Its ­activities range from basic research to application development, with applied research, field consultancy, further education and knowledge transfer as its main priorities. The IWW operates in all areas of water supply, including water resource management and water technology, water quality, water networks, applied microbiology, and management consultancy. The focus of its research activities is on four strategic fields:

  • Water resources and the environment
  • Water technology and infrastructure
  • Water quality and health
  • Water economy and society.

The IWW has a versatile technical infrastructure, excellently equipped laboratories, a large-scale testing facility and universal pilot equipment (including column filters, corrosion test stands, and pilot-scale membrane test stands).
