Undergraduate and Doctoral Programmes

In conjunction with INEF, the Institute of Political Science offers an M.A. Programme in “International Relations and Development Policy”. This unique programme draws on the specific strengths of the political scientists at the University of Duisburg-Essen and attracts students from Germany and abroad. Moreover, INEF participates in the “Student Exchange Programme in Human Security (SEPHS)” funded by the EU Transatlantic Student Exchange Partnership for the period of 2007-2010. This programmecreates possibilities for the short-term exchanges of students and lecturers between the participating European Universities of Graz, Ljubljana and Duisburg-Essen and the University of British Columbia, the Université du Québec à Montréal, and the University of Winnipeg in Canada.

INEF offers its doctoral students a special programme in “International Relations / Peace and Development Research” in cooperation with the Institue of Political Science and colleagues from the University of Düsseldorf and the University of Applied Sciences of Düsseldorf. Part of this programme consists of a series of workshops focused on methodological and theoretical issues related to the research work of the participants. In this programme, moreover, doctoral students are given the opportunity to embed their individual theses in the broader research frameworks of the participating institutes.
