The Center for Computational Sciences and Simulation (CCSS) represents “High Performance Computing” as the third pillar – alongside theory and experiment – of knowledge acquisition. Since 2010, the CCSS has been coordinating and connecting around 35 research groups working in high performance computing. Their main interests lie in method transfer, software development and algorithm optimization.

The CCSS and the Centre for Information and Media Services (ZIM) jointly operate the University’s supercomputer and provide the services of a support team to assist with high performance computing. The CCSS and its resources are crucial to the cooperation and collaboration between the research groups, both in structured research projects and beyond faculty boundaries.
