Physics

In the coming years, the Faculty of Physics will be focusing on pursuing the four Collaborative Research Centres and two Research Training Groups in which it is involved with continued success. Collaborative Research Centre SFB 616 is due for evaluation in spring; an extension is important to ensure that the various planned research projects can be conducted to optimal effect.
The faculty also aims to participate in a new Collaborative Research Centre concentrating on the physics of traffic.
The Faculty of Physics plays a key role in the Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen, CeNIDE, the central office for nanosciences research at the University of Duisburg-Essen. A further goal within this priority research area is to set up a nanoenergy technology centre under the name of NETZ (NanoEnergieTechnikZentrum).
