Awards and Distinctions

A cooperation between Prof. Christian Clason and mathematicians and medical technicians in Graz on the topic of RF pulse design in magnetic resonance imaging using optimal control led to the first place in the ISMRM RF Pulse Design Challenge 2015 in the field of “simultaneous multislice (SMS) acquisition”.

Ralf Gollmer, Claudia Gotzes and Rüdiger Schultz, together with 33 further colleagues, received the 2016 EURO Excellence in Practice Award for their participation in the project and in the preparation of the book “Evaluating Gas Network Capacities”, MOS-SIAM Series on Optimization.

Prof. Vytautas Paskunas was awarded the Prize for Young Mathematicians of the Lithuanian Mathematical Society for his work on the p-adic Langlands correspondence.

Prof. Rüdiger Schultz gave the 2015 IFORS (International Federation of Operational Research Societies) Distinguished Lecture.
