Awards and Distinctions

  • Prof. Daniel Erni (General and Theoretical Electrical Engineering) is one of the authors of the article which received the “CST University Publication Award 2013” from the CST – Computer Simulation Technology AG, Darmstadt for the best simulation publication of the year.
  • Dr. Andreas Stöhr (Optoelectronics) was awarded “Visiting Professor” status at the University of Ottawa (Canada) in 2013.
  • Dr. Gabi Schierning (Technology of Nanostructures) received the NRW Innovation Award 2014 in the “Young Scientist” category.
  • Wolf Quitsch (Electronic Materials and Nanostructures) received the Best Student Presentation Award at the 16th International ­Conference for II-VI-based semiconductor materials in Nagahama, Japan.
  • Dr. Haiyang Hao (Automatic Control and Complex Systems) won the prestigious NAMUR Award 2014 for his dissertation on the theme of “Key performance monitoring and diagnosis in industrial processes”.
  • Svenja Wolff (Electronic Materials and Nanostructures), member of the junior research group of Dr. Ekaterina Nannen, received the SPIE 2014 Green Photonics Award for Solid State Lighting and Displays, San Francisco (USA) for her contribution to the conference.
