Physics

The implementation of the Energy Science Bachelor’s programme and the related preparation have made the overlap between the research topics of the different groups in the Faculty of Physics very visible, with the resulting cooperation promising to produce some interesting findings. The NanoEnergieTechnikZentrum (NETZ) reflects the connection between the nanosciences and energy research to the outside world and stands for pioneering research projects as a collaboration between several faculties (Physics, Chemistry, Engineering).
Successful research is only possible if it has talented and highly educated students, and the nano school lab helps in winning promising future physicists for the University of Duisburg-Essen. The new reflecting telescope on the building of the Faculty of Physics is designed to encourage students’ interest in astronomy and help them in their education. It may be new to the Faculty of Physics, but to physics itself this has always been a central component of scientific research.
