Engineering

With the move into the NanoEnergieTechnikZentrum (NETZ) complete and the building officially inaugurated, it now remains to work towards the intentionally ambitious scientific goals of “NanoEnergy” in the coming years. Agreements are already in place with collaborators from science and industry, who are also represented among the NETZ staff and will contribute to applied research at the centre.
The Chair of Process Engineering and Water Technology is planning to set up a research and development area for “Optimization of adsorption processes in drinking-water treatment”. In a German Cancer Foundation project, the scientists of the Chair of Production Technology and Product Development will develop an automated process for mammabiopsy. Another project considers the accuracy of three-dimensionally reconstructed models in medical engineering.
Empirical research in emerging markets of the automotive industry is a focus of the Chair of Business Administration and International Automotive Management now and in the future. The emphasis here is on electric mobility, with plans for the installation of an NRW design studio for new vehicle and multi-modal traffic concepts on the transition to electric mobility. This project is taking place in collaboration with the Chair of Mechatronics and other engineers and designers.
