Transfer and Sustainability

The application-related R&D work of the ZBT has never been better demonstrated than in the last two years, in which many collaborative projects with strong industrial involvement were launched and the volume of orders directly from industry reached a new peak. With 1.4 million euros in orders, the volume in 2019 exceeded the ZBT’s basic funding for the first time. The ZBT has issued licenses for the production of highly conductive, carbon-containing compounds, which – following their successful development for fuel cell applications – can now also demonstrate their excellent properties (thermal conductivity, chemical resistance, processability in injection moulding) in many other fields of application. The next transfer will focus on the design and application of seals, when the limits of the small series production of several thousand units possible at the ZBT premises will be exceeded.
