The Interdisciplinary Centre for Integration and Migration Research (InZentIM) was founded in 2016 to pool, strengthen and make visible the research on integration and migration at the University of Duisburg-Essen. InZentIM deals with disciplinary and interdisciplinary questions in basic and applied research. In addition to the ethical, political and professional dimensions of its research, also on its agenda is the importance of integration and migration research for current political and social transformation processes.

Since its foundation in 2016, InZentIM has developed rapidly and in many different ways. In 2017, InZentIM became part of the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM), and in February 2018 the first joint presentation of the projects supported by the Centre took place in Berlin. At the beginning of 2019 we were accepted into the European research network International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion in Europe (IMISCOE). While DeZIM is primarily associated with project cooperation in Federal Ministry for Family Affairs (BMFSFJ) projects, admission to the IMISCOE network brings lively debates and cooperation prospects in the European research area.
