Transfer und Sustainability

The Faculty of Engineering transfers knowledge on many levels and in many different ways from the University and into practice. This close connection between academia and industry is one of the traditional strengths of German engineering. One of the most important transfer routes is collaboration on publicly funded projects, as the many examples in this report clearly illustrate. At the same time, the many ideas and innovation that originate in the Faculty also produce spin-offs companies, as shown in the timeline of the past 20 years in the figure below.

Sustainability is one of the greatest drivers of research in the Faculty of Engineering today, which is clearly reflected in the project topics described here as examples of the work of its different departments. The sustainability of resources may be part of the name of the FSP Energy and Resource Engineering, but in fact all four research profiles pick up on this major topic in various ways.
