Scientific Director: Prof. Dr. Andreas Kempf

The CCSS – Center for Computational Sciences and Simulation – represents scientific computing as one of the three principal elements of inquiry alongside theory and experiment. Since 2010 it has coordinated and connected around 35 research groups in this field at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). Work focuses primarily on method transfer, software development and algorithm optimisation.

The CCSS and the Centre for Information and Media Services (ZIM) jointly operate the magnitUDE supercomputer and other servers for high performance computing (HPC). A support team is available to assist users with computers of different performance classes. The CCSS and its resources play a vital role in collaboration between the research groups – in structured research projects and beyond faculty boundaries.
