The Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Duisburg-Essen which was founded by the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF), the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities, Essen (KWI) and the German Development Institute (DIE). It is being funded as part of the “Freedom for Research in the Humanities” funding initiative (2012-2018) of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The Centre sees global cooperation as the key to effectively and legitimately addressing urgent transnational issues such as climate change, the global financial crisis or peacebuilding in war-torn societies and investigates how global cooperation can succeed in an increasingly complex world.
