Cooperation within the many research programmes and on projects directly financed by industry are accompanied by various other noteworthy collaborations and international work.
Professor Klaus Solbach was General Chair of the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation 2009 in Berlin. The event attracted around 1000 international participants, making it the largest conference of its kind outside the USA, and was conducted by EurAAP and organised by the VDE.
In keeping with tradition, the Chair of Communication Systems (Professor Andreas Czylwik, Professor Ingolf Willms) organised the 14th International Conference on Automatic Fire Detection (AUBE ’09) from 8 to 10 September 2009. At the only conference of its kind in the world, 230 participants from 18 countries discussed a total of 96 contributions in 13 sessions covering all fields of automatic fire detection.
The long-standing cooperation with partner universities Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universitas Indonesia (UI) produced some very positive results in 2010. Together with the UKM, a Postgraduate School under the name of “PromISE” has been set up as a continuation of the successful ISE study programme.
