In 2009/10, ISSAB provided evaluation, support and consulting to the Senate Department for Urban Development Berlin on the introduction of cross-agency social space orientation in the city’s Lichtenberg and Tempelhof-Schöneberg districts, and within the Senate Department for Urban Development itself. In Wesel, the Institute was commissioned to evaluate and consult on developing the city’s integration work. For the City of Cologne, the Institute reviewed and evaluated implementation of the “Livable Communities: Citizen and Social Space Orientation” concept. Evaluation research was completed on the Velbert-Birth-Losenburg Social City Programme for the City of Velbert (in cooperation with the StadtRaumKonzept Dortmund planning agency), on mentoring projects for the Ehrenamt Agentur voluntary work agency in Essen, and on a programme to strengthen the responsibility of families of youngsters in residential care for the Stuttgart evangelical society, eva. Formative evaluations of the impact and sustainability of educational support in Hannover, the “WohnQuartier4 – Developing senior friendly communities” NRW pilot project, “Future-School” Mülheim-Eppinghofen, and development of the preventive youth care infrastructure in Essen-Kray are still ongoing. The administrative districts of Osnabrück and Gummersbach have also commissioned scientific monitoring of socio-spatial restructuring of their youth care provisions in the 2009–2011 period. To mark 30 years of project studies on “Resource and Social Space Orientation”, the Institute conducted a career survey of its alumni students.
Professor Wolfgang Hinte was keynote speaker at two international conferences (Bern, Berlin) on perspectives of social work. He was also appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Anneliese Brost Foundation.
Cooperation continues at national level in the standing contract with the City of Essen and the three-year contract with the City of Mülheim/Ruhr to support municipal social planning.
