In 2008, ISSAB successfully completed a research project into “Community-based reorganisation of child and youth services in Berlin” on behalf of the Federal State Government of Berlin. For the City of Cologne, a formative evaluation of the “Community-based support services in Cologne” pilot project was conducted, and the development agency of the City of Duisburg (EG DU) commissioned the institute to develop integrated target systems for community development projects in the Bruckhausen, Marxloh, Hochfeld and Beeck districts of the city. Encouraging participation by young people with a migrant background was the focus of a study for the “Ehrenamt-Agentur” voluntary agency in Essen, with funding from the Ministry for Intergenerational Affairs, Family, Women and Integration in NRW. A formative evaluation of “WohnQuartier4”, a pilot project on developing communities with regard to the needs of senior citizens, also marked the start of a three-year research process into action and control structures and funding options for community-based welfare and care services. The first interim evaluation of the “Future-School Mülheim-Eppinghofen” project provided insights into the development of community-based educational landscapes.
At regional level, the ongoing cooperation agreement with the City of Essen was renewed, and a three-year contract for consultation on municipal social planning was signed with the City of Mülheim/Ruhr.
